Question: Please provide background on several recent commercial and general aviation
air crash cases your firm has handled or is currently handling.
Answer:
- The crash of Corporate Airlines\American Connection Flight 5966
in Kirksville,
Missouri. There were 13 passengers on board this aircraft that crashed on approach
to Kirksville Regional Airport. We represent the family of a mother who was from
Los Angeles.
- The crash of Singapore Airlines Flight 006 near Taipei, Taiwan involving
a Boeing 747-400 aircraft. We represented the family of a well known physician from
Ohio. We were appointed to the Plaintiffs’ Steering Committee on behalf of
all Singapore Airlines plaintiffs.
- The crash of Alaska Air Flight 261 near Point
Mugu, California involving an MD-83 aircraft. We represented 15 families from San
Francisco, California, Olympia, Washington, Eugene, Oregon, Seattle, Washington
and other cities on the West Coast. We were appointed to the Plaintiff’s Steering
Committee on behalf of all Alaska Airlines Flight 261 plaintiffs. Mr. Lebovitz also served on the Management Committee which directed all of the activities of the Plaintiff’s
Steering Committee.
- The crash of Egyptair Flight 990 near Nantucket Island, Massachusetts
involving a Boeing 767 aircraft. We represented families of passengers who were from
Maryland and California. We were appointed to the Plaintiff’s Steering Committee
on behalf of all Egyptair plaintiffs.
- The crash of Swissair Flight 111 near Peggy’s
Cove, Nova Scotia involving an MD-11 aircraft. We represented families of passengers
who were from California, Ohio and New York. We were appointed to the Plaintiff’s
Steering Committee on behalf of all Swissair plaintiffs.
- The crash of TWA Flight
800 on Long Island, New York involving a Boeing 747 aircraft. We represented families
of four passengers who were from Arizona, Illinois, New York, and Ohio. The cases were pending in the United States District Court for the Eastern District of
New York.
- The crash of USAir Flight 427 near Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania involving
a Boeing 737 aircraft. In addition to representing 6 individual families in connection
with this case, our firm was appointed by the Court as members of the Plaintiffs'
Steering Committee (PSC). We were responsible for coordinating and preparing the
liability phase of the case on behalf of all other claimants and litigants.

crash of Valujet Flight 592 near Miami, Florida involving a McDonnell-Douglas DC-9
aircraft. We represented families of passengers from the Topeka, Kansas and Richmond,
Indiana areas.
