The History of Nurenberg Paris Heller & McCarthy Company LPA
The firm was founded by Abe Dudnik in 1928. At that time Samuel Komito joined him
and the firm became known as Dudnik and Komito. In the early 1950's Marshall Nurenberg
became an associate, later joined by Leon Plevin. By the early 1960's, Maurice Heller
and Jack McCarthy joined the firm. Abe Dudnik passed away in 1963, and the firm
became known as Komito, Nurenberg, Plevin, Jacobson, Heller & McCarthy. For
those years, and until 1985, the firm's offices were located in the Engineers Building
in downtown Cleveland, Ohio, and its attorneys represented individuals injured under
a variety of circumstances. In 1988 the firm was known as Nurenberg, Plevin, Heller
and McCarthy Co., L.P.A., moved to its present location, Suite 100 of the Standard
Building in downtown Cleveland in close proximity to the State and Federal courthouses.
In March of 2006, the firm was renamed to it's present name - Nurenberg, Paris,
Heller and McCarthy Co., L.P.A. The Firm also has offices in Washington, D.C. and,
with association of local counsel, in other major cities throughout the United States.
During its existence, the firm, through its attorneys, has represented over 72,000
clients personal injury clients and nearly 1 million class action clients in Federal
and State courts throughout the United States including, The United States Supreme
Court, The Ohio Supreme Court, various United States District Courts, various United
States Courts of Appeals and trial and appellate courts throughout Ohio. Cases have
involved the Federal Employer Liability Act ("F.E.L.A.," railway workers statute),
Product Liability, Medical Malpractice, Professional Negligence, Insurance, Aviation,
Commercial Disputes, Antitrust, Worker's Compensation, Train Derailments, Automobile
Accidents and Class Actions. Our firm now consists of 14 lawyers and a support staff
of over 30 individuals, including nurse paralegals, trial paralegals, investigators
and additional support staff dedicated to maintaining the highest standards in tort
and commercial litigation.
The firm, having its roots in Northeast Ohio for over seventy-eight years, is an
active supporter of its community. In this regard, the Firm, largely comprised of
alumni from Cleveland's two local law schools, Cleveland-Marshall College of Law
and Case Western Reserve University School of Law, funds scholarship grants at each
law school. Some of our attorneys serve as instructors at these law schools as well.
Members of the firm serve in leadership roles of religious, civic and professional
organizations within the community. The firm also supports local artists as evidenced
by the firm's art collection of over 140 works of art by 32 artists whose work represents
many different aspects of city life in this community.
