$34.6 Million Verdict for Traumatic Brain Injury Victim in Truck Underride Accident

Amount: $34,600,000
Court: Cuyahoga County Common Pleas Court

(*Disclaimer: Prior case results do not guarantee or predict a similar outcome in any future case.)

Attorney Tom Mester, Esq., of Nurenberg Paris, and co-counsel obtained a $34.6 million dollar verdict for their client who was involved in a trucking accident. The overall verdict in the case is believed to be one of the largest in Cuyahoga County’s history.

The case involved a dump truck that made an improper lane change directly in front of a Honda Accord, causing the driver of the Honda to steer left in an attempt to avoid collision. Our client was sitting in the passenger side seat and sustained a traumatic brain injury with more than a third of his brain being destroyed as a result of an open skull fracture. This ultimately left our client with severe cognitive and functional impairments.

After a two-week trial, the jury returned a verdict of $34.6 million for our client ($8.2 million economic and $26.4 million non-economic damages). Outside co-counsel, Patrick Merrick, was also on the case.
