Electronic Pre-Employment Screening Celebrates One Year Anniversary
Transportation Secretary Ray LaHood announced the celebration of the One Year Anniversary of the Pre-Employment Screening Program (PSP). This program was launched in May, 2010 by the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA). Providing electronic access to driver safety records (including serious safety violations and crash history), trucking companies are now able to access driver records through the following government sponsored website. This website’s purpose is to assist trucking companies in “making the roads safer, one hire at a time.”
As a lawyer representing personal injury victims of trucking accidents, if a trucking company is failing to utilize this essential resource when hiring truck drivers, then that company can be held liable for negligent hiring practices.
