Employer Pays $1.2 Million For Employee's Amputated Hand
Employer Intentional Tort Our client was inspecting the die in a steam powered press. He turned the throttle control switch to “off” and propped the ram with a wooden strut. He began working on the pinch point when the throttle control lever slipped from pressure “off” to pressure "low" due to a worn spring. The ram crushed the wood strut, which did not meet specifications, and crushed our client’s hand resulting in its amputation. Our client has returned to work with the same company in a promoted position.
