Fatal RTA Bus versus Pedestrian Accident

by fstrack | May 18th, 2009

A man crossing a downtown street was struck and eventually died from the injures that he suffered in the March 21 crash.  Angela Williams was the drive behind the wheel when the bus struck and killed the pedestrian has been charged with aggravated vehicular homicide

The victim suffered severe injuries and died a few days later.  RTA’s systems safety engineers are looking into ways to prevent future accidents.  The bus driver has apparently been a RTA bus operator for years, even after a previously pedestrian accident in 2006.  The driver is also being questioned and tested for drugs and/or alcohol.

The transit authority recently retrained its drivers to make safe left turns after a 66-year-old man was struck and died last fall.

In such bus versus pedestrian accidents, the victims’ families would be well-served to consult with an experienced Ohio accident attorney, who will be able to thoroughly examine the investigative reports and determine exactly who should be held accountable.
