Special Spaces Cleveland
Special Spaces Cleveland is a non-profit 501 C (3) organization that creates dream bedrooms in the homes of children who have cancer, brain tumors, organ transplants or life threatening heart issues. Special Spaces was founded in 2004 in Knoxville, Tennessee. The Cleveland chapter was started in 2017 and will complete its 8th room makeover the end of October . The goal of Special Spaces is to transform a child’s bedroom into a place that only the child can dream or imagine. They hope to create a special space where the child can heal, recover, and find peace. Dream bedrooms provided by Special Spaces are created with no cost to the family. Special Spaces currently has chapters in California, Florida, Illinois, Iowa, Michigan, Missouri, Nebraska, Nevada, New York, Ohio, Tennessee, Texas, Wisconsin. There are three in Ohio–Columbus, Toledo and Cleveland. Each chapter is responsible for raising the money needed for every room makeover, with the average budget of a room being $4000. Being chosen to receive the Nurenberg Paris award would help in their efforts to change the lives of children–one bedroom at a time!
