Q: I’m employed through a temp agency and I was hurt at work. Can I still file for workers' compensation?
A: In Ohio, if you were hurt at work and you are a regular W2 employee, you should be able to successfully pursue a workers' compensation claim. Though the structure may vary from agency to agency, most temporary staffing companies have their employees categorized as W2 employees. As a result, if you were hurt at work, you should be able to pursue a workers' compensation claim. Given the nature of temporary employment though, it can be a challenge to get all the benefits to which you’re entitled when you’re a temporary employee. It is often difficult, for instance, to receive benefits for your time off, since most temporary assignments are for such short periods of time. Likewise, there could be a dispute between the agency and the place you were assigned as to whose workers' compensation policy should step in and pay your bills.
Because of this, it is often in your best interest to contact an experienced workers' compensation attorney to help you with your claim. Even if your employer initially claims they will pay all your bills, the reality is that they will often do all they can to pay as little as possible. That’s why it is important that you contact a workers' compensation attorney as soon as possible following an injury at work. With an experienced attorney handling your claim, you can be sure that you will not be taken advantage of and you’ll receive every benefit to which you’re entitled. The nature of your employment should not stop you from receiving everything you deserve.
Q: I was a passenger in an Uber when we were rear-ended. The driver that hit us didn’t have insurance. How can I receive payment for my medical expenses?
A: Ride sharing apps might make getting around easier, but when an accident occurs, the process may seem more confusing than if you were in your own car. Thankfully though, there’s a good chance your medical bills will be covered. Uber and Lyft both carry generous insurance policies for their passengers, including uninsured motorist coverage. This means that if you were in an accident while a rideshare passenger, you should be able to recover funds for your injury even if your driver wasn’t at fault and the at-fault driver didn’t have insurance. Additionally, if you have your own uninsured motorist coverage on your own auto insurance policy, you may be able to file a claim with your own insurance. If this sounds confusing, don’t worry—an experienced personal injury attorney can assist with every step of your claim and make sure you get everything you deserve.
If you were hurt in an auto accident, an attorney can help you make sense of the often-confusing insurance situation, ensure that all your bills are paid, and that you are fairly compensated for your pain and suffering. If you were in an accident and you’re not sure what do to next, placing a call to an attorney is likely your best next move. Even though insurance coverage is available, it can still be a challenge to settle a claim and receive the money you deserve, particularly if multiple insurance companies are involved. Even minor auto accidents can lead to pain, stress, and inconvenience. When an uninsured driver causes an accident, these issues are often compounded. You do not have to deal with the situation alone— getting an experienced attorney on your side can go a long way to make sure you recover and receive everything you deserve.

Although Ohio isn’t one of the seven states in the U.S. that requires doctors to carry medical malpractice insurance, most doctors who practice in the Buckeye State have it anyway. That’s because they’re often required to carry it by the hospitals or clinics they work for, or because they simply want to protect themselves if […]
