Data from the National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) shows the agency investigates around 1,500 General Aviation Accidents each year. Those crashes result in roughly 475 fatalities and numerous victims being seriously injured.
These investigations allowed the NTSB to gather information that has helped the agency to determine what some of the most common causes of these accidents are. In an effort to reduce the high number of these accidents, the agency has created five Safety Alerts to educate pilots about these certain potentially dangerous oversights and errors.
Each of the pieces explains why and how that particular factor is a risk that can result in an accident occurring. Then, the article goes on to offer tips to prevent such an accident from occurring. Each of the alerts will be paired this spring with a video, which will each feature regional air safety investigators discussing their experiences and how pilots can avoid each of the deadly contributing factors to accidents.
The Aviation Injury Attorneys with the law firm of Nurenberg, Paris, Heller & McCarthy would like to applaud the efforts being made by the NTSB to improve aviation safety in the United States. The firm is hopeful these educational tools will find success in reducing the number of airplane crashes.
