An investigation has been launched into the cause of the Ohio Aviation Accident that claimed the lives of two individuals over the weekend. Reports indicate the crash happened on Saturday, June 22, at the Vectren Air Show held in Dayton, Ohio.
According to an article from NPR News, the 450-horsepower Stearman Biplane aircraft was carrying a 64-year-old pilot and 46-year-old stuntwoman as part of a performance at the event. The woman was supposed to “wing walk”, a performance during which she would step out of the aircraft, then walk and stand on the wings of the aircraft in different positions as it flew.
Reports say video captured images of the woman sitting on the wings of the inverted aircraft just moments before it turned and veered toward the ground before crashing. The impact of the accident caused the aircraft to explode and become engulfed in flames. Luckily, no spectators were injured as a result of the crash.
Since the crash occurred, officials with the National Transportation Safety Board have arrived at the scene to determine the cause of the crash and investigate whether it could have been prevented.
The Ohio Personal Injury Lawyers with Nurenberg, Paris, Heller & McCarthy recognize the risks that can be posed by flying. The firm sends their deepest condolences to the families of the victims of this tragic accident.
