On July 5, 2025, Nurenberg, Paris, Heller & McCarthy proudly celebrates the 100th birthday of one of our most cherished and respected founding figures—Marshall Nurenberg.

Marshall’s career has been nothing short of extraordinary. A veteran of the United States Navy, a top graduate of Case Western Reserve University Law School, and a member of the prestigious Order of the Coif, Marshall brought his formidable intellect and impeccable character to a life devoted to the practice of law—and to justice.

More than a brilliant trial attorney, Marshall was a mentor, a teacher, and a leader. His influence can be seen in every corner of our firm and felt by every generation of lawyers privileged to learn under his guidance.

Senior Partner Jamie R. Lebovitz, who was mentored by Marshall, speaks with reverence about the trial skills and legal insight Marshall shared throughout their many years practicing side by side.

Together, they handled some of the most complex and high-stakes cases in our firm’s history. These include the groundbreaking wrongful death case brought against the Cleveland Clinic involving AIDS-contaminated blood and the harrowing airplane crash litigation they tried over nearly a month in Beckley, West Virginia, through treacherous blizzard conditions.

Marshall led by example through his preparation, precision, and unwavering integrity. He taught us all what it means to be a true advocate for clients: to listen deeply, fight fiercely, and always act with compassion, integrity, and honor.

Retired partner Harley Gordon fondly recalls the countless intellectual discussions he and Marshall shared over the years, delving into the most intricate legal issues.

“Every conversation with Marshall was a masterclass in legal thinking,” Harley reflects. “He had an ability to see clarity in complexity and was always generous with his insights.”

As our firm nears its own 100th anniversary, it’s impossible to reflect on our history without seeing Marshall’s influence at every turn. His impact is not measured only by the verdicts won or cases closed, but by the culture of excellence, ethics, and client-first advocacy that he helped establish and nurture for decades.

Marshall Nurenberg is the embodiment of what it means to be a lawyer—and a good man. We are forever grateful for his service to our firm, our clients, and the law itself.

Happy 100th Birthday, Marshall.

With love, admiration, and deep respect,

Your Nurenberg, Paris, Heller & McCarthy family and friends
