Nurenberg, Paris, Heller & McCarthy Expresses Sympathy And Aims To Provide Proper Representation For Victims Affected In The Air Canada and LaGuardia Airport Collision
CLEVELAND (March 23, 2026) — In the aftermath of the deadly collision at New York’s LaGuardia Airport on Sunday, March 22nd, between an Air Canada regional jet and a fire truck on one of LaGuardia’s runways, Nurenberg, Paris, Heller & McCarthy extends its deepest sympathy to the victims and families affected by this tragic event.
Senior Partner Jamie R. Lebovitz, an expert who has spent four decades handling complex aviation litigation, is working with a highly skilled team of aviation experts to investigate the facts and circumstances surrounding this calamity.
The flight, originating from the Montréal-Pierre Elliott Trudeau International Airport, carried 72 passengers and 4 crew members, 39 of whom were seriously injured. Both the pilot and the copilot were killed in the collision and many passengers sustained injuries.
Upon its final descent toward the runway, a fire truck was responding to a United Airlines flight incident in which an odor was emitting from the aircraft. The fire truck, having been given clearance to cross the runway, was then immediately instructed to stop after the air traffic controller noticed Air Canada’s impending landing. Unfortunately, the warning from air traffic control was too late and the fire truck crossed the runway into the path of the landing Air Canada aircraft.
Mr. Lebovitz emphasized the firm’s commitment to the affected families: “The unfathomable and preventable loss from this tragedy has created immense pain for the families and victims involved. Our team is nothing short of ready and willing to assist those affected during this difficult time and is prepared to fight for the accountability they deserve.”
Nurenberg Paris encourages anyone impacted by the crash to reach out for legal guidance and support.
