Ohio has a large population of individuals living with disabling mental or physical conditions. Estimates from the Center for Family and Demographic Research show there are as many as 1.9 million Ohioans who suffer from a long-lasting condition or disability. Luckily, there are organizations in our state focused on helping the disabled achieve their goals in life and the Cleveland personal injury lawyers with Nurenberg, Paris, Heller & McCarthy would like to tell you about one of them that we hold dear to our hearts.
The group, New Avenues to Independence, Inc., really began in 1952 as a group of parents looking to give their children with disabilities an opportunity for education, vocational training, and recreation. Since then, the organization has gone through numerous changes and has grown to serve thousands in The Buckeye State.
Some of the programs the organization provides include daycare, residential and supportive living services, and even housing inspections.
If you’d like to offer support to New Avenues of Independence, the organization is constantly looking for volunteers. You can also offer a monetary donation. One way to do that is to participate in our Charity of the Month program.
For each new and unique “Like” that our firm’s Facebook page receives, we’ll donate $2 to New Avenues to Independence.
At Nurenberg, Paris, Heller & McCarthy, giving back to the community we serve is important and we are hopeful you’ll choose to support this amazing organization by clicking the “like” button that can be found on our Facebook pages.

When an insurance company in Ohio calculates that a wrecked vehicle’s repair cost is more than its actual cash value (ACV), it will deem that vehicle a total loss—or “totaled.” This is more common than you think. Around 25% of car accidents result in at least one vehicle being considered totaled by an insurance company. […]

People in Ohio typically only wait a short time for emergency responders to arrive when they or someone else calls 911 after a crash. However, waiting even a few minutes for help to arrive can seem like an eternity when you’re seriously injured. Sometimes, a short delay can be the difference between life and death. […]
